ACS Domestic Gas Safety and Appliances Initial Assessment

This course is suitable for anyone who:

This assessment program is designed for gas professionals who have earned their Managed Learning Programme (MLP) and want to become qualified gas professionals and members of the Gas Safe Register.

Upon passing, you will receive your first Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) gas certificate. This will allow you to become a member of the Gas Safe Register, which is a legal requirement in order to operate as a gas engineer.

This program is also suitable for gas professionals who already hold this qualification, but whose competency expired over 12 months ago. If it’s expired within the last 12 months and you’d like to refresh your competency, you can complete the ACS Reassessment program, instead.

The Initial Assessment program consists primarily of self-study, with learners having access to the latest manuals to confirm knowledge.

Assessment takes place typically over 3 to 5 days and involves practical demonstration and completing question papers.

Once you have earned your qualification, we will offer you support on next steps.

This can include connecting you with partner organisations and clients who are in need of qualified installers or maintenance engineers, either on a direct of subcontracting basis.

Plus, once you’ve held your Gas Safe qualification for 12 months, you will be able to add scope extensions (or “bolt-on”) to your competency. You may wish to train in any of the following appliances:

• Central heating boilers and water heaters (CENWAT)
• Cookers (CKR1)
• Gas fires (HTR1)
• Domestic gas meters (MET1)
• Unsafe situations procedure
• Gas safety regulations 1998
